- Composite dressings combine distinct components into a single product for multiple functions, including bacterial barrier, absorption, and adhesion.
- Typically comprised of multiple layers with a semi- or non-adherent pad that covers the wound.
- May include an adhesive border made of non-woven fabric tape or transparent film.
- Can serve as either a primary or secondary dressing on a variety of wounds and can be used with topical medications.
- Suitable for various healthcare settings, including emergency care (cuts, burns, abrasions), surgery (surgical incisions), intensive care (I.V. catheter sites), and long-term care (superficial and partial thickness wounds).
NuMed Bordered Wound Dressing:
- Combines a ventilated non-woven fabric top with a hypoallergenic adhesive for a gentle fixative border and an absorbent non-adherent pad.
- The soft absorbent island pad allows for the lateral spread of fluids, maximizing absorbency and reducing the risk of maceration.
- Moisture vapor permeability and non-sensitizing adhesive allow the wound and surrounding skin to breathe.
- The non-adherent pad surface leaves the wound site undisturbed, reducing pain and trauma during dressing changes.
Additional Features:
- Latex-free hypoallergenic composite wound dressing
- Semi-occlusive layer prevents external contamination
- Highly absorbent non-adherent pad minimizes the need for frequent dressing changes
- Allows for monitoring of drainage without removing the dressing
- Moisture vapor permeability enables the wound and skin to breathe
- Nonsensitizing adhesive border ensures the dressing stays in place longer
